What is the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship?
Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj was one of the greatest social reformers of Maharashtra. He was known for his progressive polices for his people. He was a staunch supporter of expanding the reach of education to everyone regardless of their caste. To honour such a great leader the Government of Maharashtra started Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship under the Directorate of Higher Education Ministry.
Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship is specially designed for students who belong to economically weaker sections. General category and SEBC (Socially and Economically Backwards classes) category students can apply for this scholarship. There are two categories of income criteria for applying to this scholarship first is up to Rs. 2.50 Lakh per annum and the second is Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 8 Lakh per annum.
This Scholarship is awarded for Professional Courses as well as Non-Professional Courses and it covers the Tuition Fees and Exam Fees as well as up to Rs. 3000 per month for other expenses.
Scholarship for Tuition Fee will be as follows:
The Exam Fee for Professional courses is 50% of the Exam Fee and for Non-Professional courses is 100% of the Exam Fee.
What is the Eligibility of the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship?
The student who wants to apply for the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship should be the Domicile of Maharashtra. The student who stays on the Karnataka state border can also apply for this scheme.
The family annual income should be Rs 8 Lakh or less than Rs.8 Lakh per annum.
The first two children in the family are only eligible for the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship.
Only those students eligible for this scholarship who have taken the admission under the general and SEBC categories.
The student who wants to avail the benefit of this scholarship should not avail the benefit of any other scholarship or stipend.
The student should pursue the courses which are approved by the Government/ University /AICTE/PCI/COA/ MCI/ NCTE etc. Otherwise, they would not be eligible for this scholarship.
The student should attempt every semester or annual exam for keeping the benefit of the scholarship. And they should not be a gap of 2 or more years during the period of the course.
How to apply for the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship?
The eligible student will have to apply online through the Aaple Sarkar MahaDBT portal.
The candidates will have to register themself on the portal by entering all the necessary details.
The candidate will require to upload the following documents while applying online for the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship.
- Domicile of Maharashtra Certificate issued by Authorised officer.
- Previous year Annual Family income certificate issued by Authorised officer.
- The result of the entrance exam by which the candidate has been selected for the course.
- If there is Gap in education the Gap certificate issued by the university
- Family declaration certificate that the applicant belongs to the first two children of the family.
- All the previous year’s mark sheets.
The students will have to renew the scholarship every year by using the application ID from the list published on the Maharashtra government’s Higher Education Directorate website.
Note: The students who are preparing for JEE Mains, JEE Advance or CUET exams should get ready with the documents if they are eligible for the scholarship.
