What is JEE Mains Exam ?

Admission is decided on All India Ranking method through seat allocation process.

The JEE Mains exam is also the eligibility exam for appearing in JEE Advance exam. JEE Advance Exam is conducted for admission in Indian Institute of Technologies. An IITs are the the best institutes for becoming an engineer.

What is the eligibility for appearing JEE Mains Exam ?

Class 12th is also known as final examination of 10+2 system or Intermediate or two year Pre-University exam.

A Diploma recognised by AICTE or State Board of technical education which is of at least 3 years duration can also be considered as eligibility for appearing for JEE Mains Exam.

While applying for the exam a candidate have to mention its state of eligibility. The State of Eligibility is the State from where the candidate is appearing in his/her 12th or equivalent exam.

JEE Mains Paper Pattern and Syllabus

JEE Mains Exam is mainly divided in 3 Papers.

  1. Paper 1 : – This Paper is for the candidates who wants to take the admission in B.E or B.Tech course. This paper is completely computer based.
  2. Paper 2A :- This Paper is for the candidates who wants to take the admission in B. Arch course. This paper is taken in two modes one is computer based and other is pen and paper mode. Drawing test is taken in pen and paper mode. A candidate has been given a drawing sheet of A4 size to answer the questions.
  3. Paper 2B :- This Paper is for the candidates who wants to take the admission in B.Planning course. This paper is also a computer based exam.

JEE Mains syllabusA candidate can select the medium of language for given the exam the English language is default language for questions. With English language a candidate can select language from following set of language while filling the application form.

The Scheme of The examination is as follows:

For Paper 1 (B.E /B.Tech) : Paper 1 consist of 3 Subjects viz. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and the paper is computer based paper

Each subject consist of 2 section  Section A and Section B

In Section A MCQs type question will be asked and in Section B candidate have to fill the numerical value for answering the question. In section B candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10 questions and there will be a negative marling for both section A and section B. For each correct answer candidate will be awarded with +4 marks and for each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted from total marks obtained.

For Paper 2A ( B. Arch ) : Paper 2A consist of 3 subjects viz.  Mathematics, Aptitude test and Drawing test. Mathematics and Aptitude Test is computed based paper whereas Drawing Test is taken on A4 paper sheet.

In mathematics 20 questions will be MCQs type and 10 questions candidate will have to fill the numerical value for answering the question. In aptitude test all questions will be MCQs type. In Drawing paper 2 design have to be drawn for 100 marks. In this paper 4 marks is awarded for right answer and 1 mark is deducted for wrong answer.

For Paper 2B (B.Planning) :  Paper 2B consist of 3 subjects viz. Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning. Paper 2B is completely computer based exam.

  Mathematics and aptitude is same as Paper 2A. For Planning subject 25 questions is asked in paper. Marks for correct question is +4 and wrong answer is -1.

Duration of Test:

For Paper 1 ( B.E/B.Tech ) : 3 hours

For Paper 2A (B.Arch) : 3 hours

For Paper 2B (B. Planning ) : 3 hours

A candidate who is giving both Paper 2A and Paper 2B will be given 3 hours 30 minutes of time to solve the paper.

JEE Mains Exam Preparation Tips

jee mains preparation While preparing for any Exam remember one thing, the early you start preparation, chances of success is more. Hence if candidate have planned to go for engineering then they must start reading about is from passing 10th exam.

Before going to exam a candidate should cover full syllabus, because, if questions comes easy from untouched topic, it will leads you to loss of ranking. 

Solving previous year questions is one of most important method of preparation. By doing so candidate will know their strength and weakness for exams. This will help in their preparation.

While doing study candidate must prepare short notes with formulas and they should revise them regularly. In JEE Mains exam many questions are formula based. So if you easily recall the formula it will be easy for you to solve the problem.
