What is NCHM JEE Exam?

NCHM JEENational Council of Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination or NCHM JEE also called the NCHM JEE exam is a nationwide hotel management entrance exam carried out by National Testing Agency (NTA) for entry (admission) to B.Sc.Course in Hospitality and Hotel Management in participating institutes throughout the country. The Institutes affiliated with National Council for Hotel Management offer B.Sc.(Hospitality & Hotel Administration) of the National Council of Hotel Management, which is acknowledged by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for awarding Degrees. 

Upto 2018, the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHM & CT), an autonomous body working under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, conducted the NCHMCT JEE exam. But, after 2019, National Testing Agency (NTA) accept the responsibility to carry out the NCHM JEE exam. This Council centrally runs and regulates academics for B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Management programmes.

After appearing in the NCHM JEE exam you will be eligible for admission to the Hotel Management course in NCHM affiliated institute. Hotel management is a field of study that involves the study of the management of hospitality services such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruises and other related businesses. A hotel management course is a program that provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage different aspects of a hotel or hospitality business.

The course covers a broad range of topics, including hotel operations, marketing and sales, customer service, finance and accounting, human resource management, and food and beverage management. Students also learn about the legal and ethical aspects of hospitality management.

Hotel management courses are offered at various levels, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs. Through the NCHM JEE exam, you will be only eligible for the undergraduate course.

What is NCHM JEE Exam Eligibility?

Education requirements:

A candidate should have passed 10+2 or the HSC board exam or its equivalent exam from a recognised education board with English as one of the subjects.

The candidates who are appearing in the 10+2 or HSC board exam or its equivalent examination can also appear in the NCHM JEE exam on a provisional basis. In Provisional admission, a candidate will have to present proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or HSC or it’s equivalent) at the time of counselling or at the time of admission. 

Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the NCHM JEE exam according to the New Education Policy. As such, a candidate of any age who fulfils the other eligibility criteria can apply for NCHM JEE Exam.

How to Apply for NCHM JEE Exam?

Application NCHM JEEA candidate has to apply for the NCHM JEE exam on the official website of NCHM JEE.

A candidate has to fill out all the required information properly like the candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, details of ID card, address etc. While filling out data candidate should take care of the spelling. 

Candidates have to choose the four preferred cities for the exam. The city of the exam once chosen and allotted can not be changed. Candidates will also have to upload the scanned photograph and signature according to the prescribed format.

The Application Fee for the NCHM JEE exam is as follows:

General candidate & OBC: Rs. 1000/-

Gen. EWS: Rs. 700/-

SC/ST/PwBD/Transgender: Rs. 450/-

Candidates have to pay the online fee according to their category. After successful submission provisional admit card will be issued to the candidate.

Syllabus and Scheme of NCHM JEE Exam

The NCHM JEE exam is a Computer Based Multiple choice Online exam where each question has 4 options from which the candidate has to select one correct option. For each correct answer candidate will be awarded 4 marks and for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted from the total marks. There will be no negative or positive markings for unanswered questions. 

The total duration for the examination is 60 minutes.

The language of questions in the exam shall be English and Hindi only.

There will be 5 sections in the examination which are

  • Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude
  • Reasoning and Logical Deduction
  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs
  • English Language
  • Aptitude for the Service Sector

The candidate will have secure minimum marks in each section separately. The standard of the questions in the examination will be of 10th or SSC equivalent.
