Who can Apply for the SSC CGL Exam ?

  • Nationality : A candidate should be citizen of India or a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee candidate who have migrated to India before the 1st Jan 1962 with intention of permanently settling in India can also apply. A PIO who has came over to India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Age Limit : Age limit in SSC CGL exam is vary from 18 to 32 years. It is according to the post for which you apply. you will get the detail in SSC CGL post section. There is permissible upper age relaxation for SC category – 5years, for OBC – 3years. for PwD(General) – 10years, PwD(OBC) – 13 years, PwD(SC/ST) – 15 years, Ex-Servicemen – 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date. Defence Personnel disabled in operation – 3 years. Defence Personnel disabled in operation (SC/ST) – 8 years. Central Govt. Employee with 3 years experience – 40 years. Central Govt. Employee (SC/ST) with 3 years experience – 45 years. Widows / Divorced women who are nor remarried – 35 years. Widows / Divorced women (SC/ST) who are not remarried – 40 years 
  • Educational qualification requirement :  For Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer : – Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University or Institute is essential. For Junior Statistical Officer : – Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognised University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level OR Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level. For Statistical Investigator Grade-II : – Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognised University or Institute. For all other posts : – Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University or equivalent.

  3. Assistant Section Officer (Central Secretariat Service) : Assistant Section Officer is Group “B” post. Age limit for applying this post is 20-30 years. Basic Pay  as per 7th CPC for the post is 44,900/-, minimum in hand salary is 48,700/month plus other allowances. Assistant Section Officer works under the Department of Central Secretariat Service.
  4. Assistant Section Officer (Intelligence Bureau)/(Ministry of Electronics & IT) : Assistant Section Officer in Intelligence Bureau as well as in Ministry of Information and Technology is Group “B” post and age limit of applying this post is 18-30 years. Assistant Section Officer (Ministry of External Affairs)/(Arm Forces Head Quarters) : Assistant Section Officer in Ministry of External Affairs and AFHQ is Group “B” post and the age limit for applying this post is 20-30 years. Basic Pay is same as other Section Officer which is 44,900/- as per 7th CPC minimum in hand salary goes around 48,700/month plus other allowances.
  7. Inspector of Income Tax : Inspector of Income Tax is Group “C” post. Age limit for applying the post is 18-30 years. Basic Pay  as per 7th CPC for the post is 44,900/-, minimum in hand salary is 54,000/month plus other allowances. Inspector of Income Tax works under the Department of Central Board of Direct Taxes.

Inspector (CGST & Central Excise)/(Preventive Officer)/(Examiner)/Central Bureau of Narcotics : Inspector of CGST & Central Excise, Preventive Officer, Examiner, CBN all are Group “B” post and age limit for applying the post is 18-30 years. There is requirement of physical standard in this post, For Male candidate minimum Height is 157.5 cm which is relaxable by 5 cm in case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes. For Female candidate minimum Height is 152 cm and Weight is 48 Kgs which is relaxable for 2.5 cms and 2 Kg for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and members of Scheduled Tribes. Candidate will also have to pass the Physical test which is For Male, Walking 1600 meters in 15 minutes and Cycling 8 Kms in 30 minutes. For Female candidate Walking 1 Km in 20 minutes and Cycling 3 Kms in 25 minutes. 
  9. Assistant Enforcement Officer : Assistant Enforcement Officer is Group “B” post and age limit for applying this post is 18-30 years. Basic Pay as per 7th CPC for the Assistant Enforcement Officer is 44,900/- minimum in hand salary would be around 54000/- per month plus other allowance. Assistant Enforcement Officer works under the Directorate of Enforcement.
  10. Sub Inspector (CBI)/(NIA) : Sub Inspector (Central Bureau of Investigation)/(National Investigation Agency ) is Group “B” post, age limit for applying the post is 20-30 years (CBI), 18-30 years (NIA). Basic Pay is same as other Group “B post which is 44,900/- and in hand salary would be around 54,000/- per month plus other allowance. Their is requirement of Physical standards for the Post of Sub Inspector which is as follows, Height for Male – 165 cm(CBI) 170cm (NIA) , for Female -150 cm. Height is relaxable upto 5 cm for Hillsmen and Tribals. Chest – 76 cm with expansion ( There is no such requirement for female candidates ). Vision – Eye – sight (with or without glasses) Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye. 
  11. Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) :Junior Statistical Officer is Group”B” post and age limit for the post is 18-32 years. Basic pay at the time of joining is 44,900/- as per 7th pay and in hand salary would be around 56,000/- plus other allowance. Junior Statistical Officer works under the Ministry of Statistical & Programme Implementation.
  12. Statistical Investigator Grade-II : Statistical Investigator Grade -II is Group “B” post which comes under the Office of Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India. Age limit for applying the post is 18-30 years. Basic pay at the time of joining is same as other Group “B” post which is 44,900/- plus other allowance.
  13. Auditor : Post of Auditor is a Group “C” post age limit for applying the post is 18-27 years. Many Government department needs the auditor for their financial works,  they recruit auditor from SSC CGL candidates who apply for the post of auditor.Basic pay at the time of joining is 44,900/- plus other allowance. 
  14. Accountant/ Junior Accountant : Accountant/ Junior Accountant is Group “C” post and the age limit for applying the post is 18-27 years. Like auditor, accountant is also required by the many government offices and departments. Basic pay for the Accountant/ Junior Accountant is 44,900/-
  15. Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerks : Senior Secretariat Assistant is Group “C” post age requirement for this post is 18-27 years . Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerks works under the Central Govt. Offices. 
  16. Tax Assistant : Tax Assistant is a Group “C” post which comes under the two department i.e Central Board of Direct Taxes and Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Custom. Age limit for applying Tax assistant post is 18-27 years. Basic Pay for Tax Assistant as per 7th pay is 44,900/- plus other allowance. 
  17. Sub-Inspector (Central Bureau of Narcotics) : Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics is Group “C” post and age limit for this post is 18-27 years. Basic Pay is same as other post which is 44,900/- plus other allowance.

How to Apply for SSC CGL Exam ?

ssc cglThe only way to apply for SSC CGL Exam is online mode through the SSC website which is https://ssc.nic.in .
The procedure for filling online application is divided in two parts

1. One time registration.
2. Online application filling for the examination.

 

Process of One Time Registration.

  • While doing the process of One Time Registration, you should keep the following documents ready (Aadhar card, Voter ID card, PAN, Passport, Driving license, School / College ID, Employer ID
  • Information about Board and Year of passing the Matriculation Exam.
  • If you are a candidate of benchmark disability the be ready with Disability Certificate Number.
  • Click on ‘ Register Now ‘ link provided in Login section on SSC website
  • While doing one time registration candidates have to fill the Basic details, Contact details and Declaration.
  • While filling the Mobile number and Email ID both should be working as it will be verified by sending ‘One Time Password’ (OTP). If Commission wants to contact you the they will contact you on this mention Mobile number and Email ID.
  • After the submitting the information your Registration number will be generated and password will be sent to you on your mobile and Email.

Process of Filling Online application

  • While filling the online application you will need the recent scanned colour passport size photograph in JPEG format (20KB to 50KB). The photograph must be without spectacles and cap and both ears should be visible. The dimension of image should be 3.5cm x 4.5cm.
  • You will also require the scanned signature in JPEG format (10KB to 20KB). The dimension of image should be neat about 4.0cm x 2.0 cm.
  • You have to Login to the online system by entering your Registration number and Password.
  • Then click apply link in Combined Graduate Level Examination. 
  • You have to give the 3 preference of Examination Centres.  
  • If you have served in Armed Forces then you have to fill up the information.
  • After filling all the information go to the Declaration and click on ‘I agree’ check box for accepting the declaration. 
  • Preview the information you have filled and then verify the same.
  • Proceed to make a payment. Payment can be done through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Debit cards or by cash at SBI branch by generating SBI challan.
  • After the submission of application successfully, take the printout of the application form.

The questions in this section is design to test the candidates general awareness designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.

The aim of this subject is to check the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Candidates ability will be tested for understanding correct english, his basic comprehension and writing ability.

Note : The Questions in General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Comprehension will be of Graduation level and questions from Quantitative Aptitude will be of standard 10th level.

Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/ detecting misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, close passage & comprehension passage.

Information about Tier-III paper

 

The Tier-III  Exam of SSC CGL is Written mode that means you have to write the answers on answer paper provided by examiner. Candidate will have to select the language of the answer from Hindi or English. After selection candidate will have to use only that selected language for the answer, if candidate mix up the language i.e part paper written in English and part paper written in Hindi then candidate will awarded zero marks.

While filling the information in answer sheet candidate should write correct roll number at prescribed places on the cover page of the answer book. The answer book with incorrect roll number or nil roll number will be awarded zero marks. 

While answering the questions candidates must take care that they should not mention their personal identity like name, roll number , mobile number , address otherwise it will be treated as unfair means. Candidature of such kind of candidates will be canceled and they will be awarded zero marks.

Information about Tier-IV Computer Proficiency Test & Data Entry Speed Test.

Computer Proficiency Test :

The Computer Proficiency Test is being held by the Commission in three module.

  1. Word Processing 
  2. Spread Sheet
  3. Generation of Slides

Time duration for each module is 15 minute and these module is conducted one after another. Module 1 contain DEST which is Data Entry Speed Test. This test is conducted for a passage of about 2000 words or key depression. Module 2 contain the preparation of spreadsheet as per the exercise given in the test. Module 3 contains the preparation of the Power Point Presentation as per the exercise given.
